I recently got a promotion at work, and I'm well and truly ensconced in middle management now. When I first entered management, some time ago, I asked a friend, an experienced manager for his leadership tips. He had only two -
- Give people the dignity and respect that you expect from them
- Treat people like competent professionals who know what they are doing
These have proven to be excellent principles, and I commend them to anyone in leadership.
